WorkLINC is the newest program implemented by LINC Inc. which is located in Swansea Illinois. Our
ultimate goal is to prepare young adults with disabilities for Independent Living. We do this by first assessing their life skills and employment skills. Based on their needs and strengths, we develop a plan to help them move forward. This might be a plan to further their education with
some assistance, or perhaps focus on employment in the community or a combination of both.
We are seeking assistance from community businesses like yours to help us in preparing these young adults for being contributing members of our society. Although we will provide individualized coaching and job shadowing, we need local businesses to give us an opportunity to partner together. WorkLinc is hoping that you and your
company will be one of the partnering businesses willing to help us with the preparation of these young adults for independence.

WorkLINC supports the core values of the
Independent Living Movement, self determination and personal choice for all individuals regardless of race, creed or disability.
St. Clair, Monroe and Randolph counties have few services that assist youth with disabilities in transitioning from educational placements to employment. WorkLINC is building programs that
meets this need in a consumer driven environment while teaching transitioningyouth ages 17-21 how to integratesuccessfully into the employment arena.
Youth who are taught the values of the
Independent Living Movement have a greater understanding of their own abilities and are more apt to resist society’s labels and constraints that
seek to disable their spirit

Disabled” is an identity that one is not necessarily born with, as disabilities are more
acquired than congenital. Many people will develop disabilities in their lives due to
accidents, illness (physical, mental or emotional), or late emerging effects of
genetics” – DISABLED WORLD
“We must have a world free of unnecessary barriers, stereotypes, and discrimination…
policies must be developed, attitudes must be shaped, and buildings and organizations
must be designed to ensure that everyone has a chance to get the education they need
and live independently as full citizens in their communities”
President Obama
